Endorsement Quote: "Council must provide the Ottawa Community Housing Corp with additional funds to build, manage & own more housing options in the city. When Ottawa is the shareholder of housing assets, it ensures those units are available forever and not just short term solutions."

1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenants Protections: "And we need to have enforcement and penalties in place and actually followed." ✔️Housing Acquisition"Yes - we have lots of great social partners in our city and with the right support and vision we can help these groups get more housing stock available where needed."
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "We need to work towards a complete housing solution and not just a temporary 10-15 year plan. When affordable housing housing is build, managed & owned by the city of ottawa it is an asset that offers housing forever. When we have short term development agreements that have affordable housing solutions that eventually return to market rate we only push the problem down the line. City council should be exploring options to seek and compete for the same development grants and programs that are currently primarily in use by private sector." ✔️Increased Budget: "Although I agree with this statement on a high level; I would prefer we work towards meaningful solutions and not focus on a ‘30%’ number. We need a fix for all and we need it sooner than later. If we stick with 30% for Indigenous by Indigenous, that sounds great but I would need to engage with those partners and identify challenges they are facing and identify what solutions they need to be successful."
3. Preserve the Quality ✔️Landlord Licensing: "I support the idea of this, but without seeing what the program would entail, I can’t support licensing landlords - the government is really good at spending taxpayer money and often not getting great value. I would not want to implement a program that is just going to raise costs on tenants. This may very well be a great idea; but without knowing the execution & enforcement involved I can’t support what may be a very costly program that will result in additional landlord costs passed on to tenants." ✔️Ombudsperson: "If the city is going to be serious about addressing access to safe, cost effective housing solutions - we also need to think outside the box to address issues that affect housing services & issues as tenants & landlords. One of those issues is the severe backlogs and delays with the current landlord / tenant resolution process - by implementing an independent ombudsperson who is properly tasked, directed & supported Ottawa can become a true housing leader."
