Endorsement Quote: "Home for everyone."

1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenant Protections: "Even if there is a need for renovation, the tenant should have the right to go back to his/her unit, or one better that he/she accepts, with the same rent or less." ✔️Housing Acquisition: "City should allocate budget with enough financial resources to support this goal."
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "I think the City should bring in bylaws that stipulate on every new build to put specific perecentage of units at the disposal of the city for the purpose of affordable housing." ✔️Increased Budget: "I support all efforts to house as high as possible numbers of Indigenous and non-Indigenous housholds."
3. Preserve the Quality ✔️Landlord Licensing: "Legally binding laws and rules applied on landlords, like certification, simply make better landlords!" ✔️Housing Ombudsperson: "Housing Ombudsperson will enhance the right of Canadian citizens to access affordable housing."
1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenant Protections: "I understand raising the rent (within the legal limits and within reason) to cover the increasing costs associated with property tax, utilities, etc but evicting somebody solely for the purpose of doing a few upgrades and putting the property back on the market just to increase your profit margin doesn't sit right with me." ✔️Housing Acquisition
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "I genuinely believe that in all new developments we should have roughly 1/3rd of the homes be dedicated to income-based affordable housing. Nobody should ever have to choose between putting food on the table or a roof over their head." ✔️Increased Budget: "Getting more individuals off the streets and into homes will likely ease the pressure on our emergency services and various other city-provided services offsetting that increased cost of housing."
3. Preserve the Quality ✔️Landlord Licensing: "Having a landlord register for a rental license (with or without a fee) would allow the municipality to ensure both the landlord and the tenant are satisfied with all aspects of the agreement and that these properties are properly maintained." ✔️Housing Ombudsperson: "Having an independent housing ombudsperson would be a great tool to ensure that the city council and our partners are staying on track and making progress toward ensuring that all of our residents have a roof over their head in a quality home at an affordable rate."

Endorsement Quote: "I am fully committed to using the tools at our disposal to the City of Ottawa to stop housing loss, create more affordable housing for people at low and moderate income levels, and to preserve the quality of the affordable housing currently in place."

1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenants Protections: "I support the implementation of a strong Anti-Displacement policy with a range of housing protections for tenants." ✔️Housing Acquisition: "I am aware of a number of smaller affordable housing projects which have used this approach in Ottawa, and would like to to see opportunities for this to increase."
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "I believe that Ottawa needs to commit to a strong Inclusionary Zoning policy that will increase affordable rental units for low and moderate income earners in private market buildings, ease the pressure on Ottawa's supply of deep core affordable housing units, and facilitate the growth of mixed income housing city-wide." ✔️Increased Budget: "Indigenous people are more vulnerable to homelessness and housing insecurity. Indigenous housing advocates are able to identify, design and manage affordable housing models that are culturally informed and can lead to more sustainable living for Indigenous people. I support the provision of Indigenous-led housing creation, as well as the creation of mixed affordable housing that is welcoming to Indigenous people and seeks their input during development."
3. Preserve the Quality ✔️Landlord Licensing: "The City of Ottawa needs to allocate more financial and human resources to increase its capacity to implement and enforce property maintenance standards." ✔️Ombudsperson: "I support efforts to align Ottawa's affordable housing targets with national goals, increase opportunities to share best practices across the country, and to ensure national standards for the creation of affordable housing. An Ombudsman would help to ensure all of this, as well as address problems in compliance."
