1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenants Protections: "As a resident of Manordale, I am very much aware of the need to create municipal policies to strengthen tenant protections against renovictions and demovictions; as tenants are currently being displaced in my community. After carefully reading your platform and the three points associated with this action, I am in agreement with the following. "The landlord must have received approval of all permits with the City in advance of issuing a notice to tenants of renoviction or demoviction. The City would be responsible for providing information to tenants on their legal right to compensation." As for the third one, I believe tenants who are temporarily displaced during renovations or demolitions , should be re-housed at a similar, but not necessarily the same rate of rent. I, also, support that the new rent should be made clear to the tenant prior to the renovations and that a standardized process should be created to reach a compromise if the tenant and landlord are not in agreement." ✔️Housing Acquisition: "I agree in theory with Montreal's pre-emptive right to purchase residential buildings first, before being on the private market. Based upon the research I have done, this would allow the city to purchase properties where there is a need for affordable housing and allow them to sell them to non-profit housing authorities."
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "I believe that all new rental builds should include rent to income designated units. This would be based upon community needs and population of the area. This will allow the city to deal with the affordable housing crisis in a more timely and equitable fashion." ❌Increased Budget: "I believe the commitment from the city to set aside a percentage of housing for Indigenous community, should be based upon area representation and their demonstrated need for housing. It should not necessarily be the same in all communities. Some communities may require a percentage higher than the 30% where others may require a percentage that may be less. As for increasing the city budget to house 1.000 households each year from the current 500. I believe that this a positive step but one that would need to be done in increments over time, based upon city demographic data and would require revisiting as more funding ia allocated and/or required."
3. Preserve the Quality ❌Landlord Licensing: "I don't believe that the city should be involved in the licensing of landlords, nor should they provide funding to help small landlords to do repairs on their properties. Rental properties are for profit and if funding is offered it should be in the form of a business loan. I believe this is a slippery slope which will lead to excessive government control in private industry, as well as, a potential for some landlords to cry 'poor me' to receive financial handouts and aid from the city." ✔️Ombudsperson: "I believe it never hurts to have an independent person or body to oversee a policy that is affected by all three levels of government. The Housing Ombudsperson will help to ensure that the policy is properly implemented and that the process is understood and followed."

Endorsement Quote: "Ottawa needs more affordable housing and community safety development so all feel safe in the place they call home. We need to work together to end homelessness. No one ever dreamt that they would find themselves in the position they are in when it comes to homelessness. Let's work together to help people achieve their original dreams and goals and ensure everyone has a place to rest their feet at night and a place to call home."

1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenants Protections: "I have friends that live in Cheryl Gardens. I am very aware of the challenges they face on a daily basis. I would work to protect those currently housed and ensure that they continue to be housed.
✔️Housing Acquisition"Whatever we can all do to better serve those in our community, I am for."
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "The pandemic has caused financial trouble for many. We must all work together and make sure that everyone has a place to call home." ✔️Increased Budget: "As a local professor, I have had many Indigenous students over the years. We have had so many conversations about different topics. I am 100% behind all Indigenous people and will do anything I can to help support them."
3. Preserve the Quality ❌Landlord Licensing: "It is tough a spot to put people in where they can not sell rental units. I have no problem working on a strategy for more effective oversight of property maintenance, I just don't think we can not stop people from choosing to sell their properties. If this strategy would keep them from selling then yes, I am open to it." ✔️Ombudsperson
