Endorsement quote: "Affordable housing is the joint responsibility of all levels of government - municipal, provincial and federal. People cannot self actualize without safe affordable housing."

1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenants Protections: "There must be a balance struck between the rights of property owners and the needs of those who live in their properties." ✔️Housing Acquisition
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "The ideal is affordable units that do not create Community Housing ghettos. Occupants need to be given the necessary skills to look after their domiciles." ❓Increased Budget"This is aspirational of course. We are not yet at the point where cities may tax indiscriminately to house those who cannot afford housing."
3. Preserve the Quality ❓Landlord Licensing: "The requirements for licensure need to be more clearly defined." ✔️Ombudsperson: "Keep in mind the same principle applies to every human need including fresh water. So far we have not got past the "need". Radical realignment would be required to act on human rights."

Endorsement Quote: "I wholeheartedly endorse the "Starts With Home" campaign because the City of Ottawa requires exponential investment in housing geared to both moderate-income and vulnerable communities to address the crisis in housing affordability."

1. Stop the Loss ✔️Tenants Protections: "I support the creation of a comprehensive policy to address renovictions and demovictions. I was proud to secure a memorandum of understanding in Rideau-Rockcliffe concerning redevelopment in Manor Park during the last Term of Council that will safeguard tenants against displacement." ✔️Housing Acquisition: "More investments are needed in new innovative practices, policies and strategies to rapidly expand the creation of community-led affordable housing."
2. Create More ✔️Inclusionary Zoning: "While I voted in favor of the inclusionary zoning policy that was proposed by City staff in the last Term of Council, I believe that the framework will need to be strengthened to aggressively create an adequate amount of affordable rental housing for both moderate-income and vulnerable households." ✔️Increased Budget: "I believe a multi-fold increase in funding is necessary to address the 12,000 person housing registry wait list in Ottawa. The City should employ a culturally responsive approach to housing services and supports for the Indigenous community."
3. Preserve the Quality ✔️Landlord Licensing: "I support landlord licensing, similar to that operated in the City of Toronto. In 2019, I seconded and supported a failed motion at Council that would have introduced a landlord registry. I continue to believe we need a landlord licensing system that would include yearly inspections, increased enforcement and better repair standards." ✔️Ombudsperson: "I would support the establishment of an independent Housing Ombudsperson to protect and advance housing as a human right. I would also support the provincial assignment of responsibility to that independent official to resolve disputes involving the tenants and leaseholders of social landlords (local housing agencies, co-operatives, and non-profit housing providers)."
